121 Workwear and the BIG move!

AJ Swinbank – Owner of 121 Workwear

It has been a long-held ambition of mine to create a purpose built factory for the business so we can manufacture and produce the best quality products for our diverse customer base. Recently that ambition has become a reality, in fact many ambitions have been realised along the incredible journey that 121 Workwear has taken me on so far, but this new move has allowed me to appreciate how far we have come (not to mention how far we still have to go).

In the last few months we have negotiated a move into a purpose build 25,000 square foot industrial unit. Just four years ago when using my first single head embroidery machine in a cold, damp stable at my mother’s racing yard, 121 Workwear as it exists, was little more than a figment of my imagination and certainly a ‘million miles away’ from where we are now.

Few will be aware of the journey we have been on since 2014 but, after picking up our first embroidery machine we have gone from strength to strength, building a team of 26 people who all share the vision of building the largest garment decoration company in Europe.

Along the way we have had the pleasure of working with some amazing customers and collaborating with some incredible people. The journey has forced the team and I to face up to difficult situations daily, allowing us all to develop as individuals and collectively. Now we are aiming to create the most efficient production facility in the UK, we want to grow the business and be able to tackle the largest competitors who, only four years ago we were aspiring to replicate.

Over the next five years we will be dedicating ourselves to become the experts in workwear to not only create the best products but also to add value to our customers.

The new factory will boast a showroom, photography studio, state of the art garment printing, embroidery production, staff gym and warehousing for stock of another 12,000 product lines. In addition to this, and most importantly the new factory will also create upwards of 50 jobs across all departments for people nationwide. As a business we are committed to creating opportunities for people who wish to work with our team.

For all of you who have supported us in the past, currently work with us and those who may work with us going forward I would like to thank you for your valued custom and for shaping our past as well as helping shape our future.

I now look forward to writing about our next big move when we outgrow our new unit!
